Story Behind the Song
Not much to tell on this one, in the late ninetys, some friends challenged me to write some lyrics/poems and this was one of the results rising out oa the title and the thoughts it evoked.
Lyrics
Winds Of Change
by James R. Hoye
(c) 1998
Sailors on the ancient seas
Used to trust their fate to the winds.
It's the same, my friend, for you and me,
'Cause the winds of change are blowing again.
North wind brings the storm.
South brings the calm and woe.
East and west are friends if you know their ways,
But the winds of change, no man can know.
We're riding on the winds of change.
I wonder where they're gonna blow.
The Caesars knew the heights of power.
Greece had its moment of fame.
On the sea of time, each way has its hour,
But none can stand the winds of change.
North wind brings the storm.
South brings the calm and woe.
East and west are friends if you know their ways,
But the winds of change, no man can know.
We're riding on the winds of change.
I wonder where they're gonna blow.
Ecologists keep telling us to change our ways.
Computers have cataloged us all.
The powers of war are rat'ling their chains.
Inflation has us climbing up the wall.
With everybody trying to change our view,
It's hard to hear one voice mid the roar.
One thing is sure....things are changing.
Ain't nothing gonna be like before.
North wind brings the storm.
South brings the calm and woe.
East and west are friends if you know their ways,
But the winds of change, no man can know.
We're riding on the winds of change.
I wonder where they're gonna blow.
Yes, I wonder where they're gonna blow.
