"Time Is A River (demo)" | genre: Pop | |
 |
|
|
|
A contemplation of the passage of time; not a new idea, really...but then it's only the old ideas that tend to make good songs, anyway. |

Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by two experiences: looking back through my high school annuals, and drifting down the Hiwassee River in Tennessee on an inner tube (on purpose, for recreation). Obviously I didn't do both at once.
This is a rough demo, done in my bedroom studio.
Lyrics
TIME IS A RIVER
Crooked smiles, outrageous hair
Corny high school autographs
Thumbing through my yearbook now
Should I cry, or should I laugh
I don't know
Oh, it seems like yesterday
So many names I can recall
Though I know I'm not the same
It seems I haven't changed at all
I haven't changed at all
CHORUS:
And time is a river, moving faster than we know
Caught up in its current, we're carried in the flow
And if we turn too long to wonder where we might have gone
We miss the view along the way
And time keeps rolling on
The past is gone, we can't go back
Though sometimes I wish I could
Yet even if I had the chance
I don't think I ever would
BRIDGE:
For there's a joy that I can find
Living every day
And heaven calls to me to carry on
REPEAT CHORUS
