Story Behind the Song
This song was written by myself and Joe Pecorino for Ringo Starr in 1997 while Ringo was busy recording his record, 'Vertical Man'. We're not certain whether he actually ever received our song, but some say he did. Those inside Ringo's inner circle t old me that he really intended to write his own songs instead of choosing outside material. We still think it is perfect for him and that he should cover it for his new record.
The song's story reveals a guy who, no matter how many times he gets rejected by his dream girl, he never gives up.
The song took about a week to write. The basic track was recorded on my birthday (6/10/97) and has been updated since.
Lyrics
V1
I won’t complain if I’m alone,
I’ll take it all in stride,
A little talk or rendevous
Could cure my blues tonight,
Don’t turn me down!
V2
It wouldn’t take a miracle
To change my simple life,
A little glance, a tender touch,
Would surely make it right.
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Bridge
I’m alone when there’s a crowd,
You can’t hear me when it’s loud,
When I try to get you on the phone.
V3
I ‘d like to meet you in a room,
And talk about fine art,
But if the air gets thick too soon,
We’ll jump right in my car.
Don’t turn me down!
Solo
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Bridge
You don’t know what I’m like,
You ride past me on your bike,
I just smile at you and wave good-bye.............
I don’t know why you said goodbye w hen I ‘m standing here with tears in my eyes
V3
I hear your voice before I sleep,
It brings me peace at night,
I’ll wait until tomorrow comes
And try to get it right.
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Bridge
I just want to be your friend,
I’d be yours till the very end,
Take a chance and give me one more try,
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Don’t turn me down!
Oh No!!!!!
Don’t turn me down!!!!
