	Story Behind the Song Striking mailer Bob Vasseur saw a strike bulletin in 1996 saying the strike was near the 500-day mark. His mind started buzzing: "We were going to be walking until the scabs leave!" He went home to the keyboard. Words flowed from the heart. Lyrics 1. Vega says I'm replaced, you know I gotta save face, Two thousand people just walked out of the place. Chorus: Scab News. You can't believe what you read. Walking 500 days 'cause the scabs still got to leave. 2. We're holding our signs, got the moral high ground. Gannet's only goal is to take the unions down. Chorus: We'll fight as long as we need. 3. Sometimes I love it 'cause it opened my eyes, But mostly I hate it, I really despise Chorus. I can't believe what I seen. 4. We're fighting for jobs and good wages too.
