Story Behind the Song
this song is losely based on Ezekiel 16, and also uses a lot of imagery from Alice in wonderland. a sort of childlike innocence in the face of brutal insanity. it seems to me a great image of the discarded youth of our generation, and their saviour's unfailing love. this is the calmest song i will be recording for some time (more accustic rock than the rest). look for some more melodic hardcore/ blackmetal in the near future.
Lyrics
Watch me – falling down.
See me – inside your smile.
Were you so precious when I turned away?
Watch me, precious as I fall from grace.
If we had eyes to see you,
Would we know the truth? – would we even care?
If we had minds to comprehend,
Would we go mad or would we follow you? – follow you
Here lies Alice, no more to blame
Than all her lovers, in all her dreams.
When the worms have come to take her away
She’ll cry to you and pray to wake.
Were we so precious when we were still breathing?
Watch us, precious as we set fire to this dying city
Turn to us your merciful hand – turn us to our merciful fate.
You found me lying in my own blood
Where they threw us away.
Stitch me up, unleash me on the world:
The whore, the beast, the thief, the slave.
Here we stand, accused of our wrongs;
Precious in your eyes, precious as the ones we killed.
When the gavel lands on this table
Would you try and make your dead children live? – make us live!
If we had eyes to see you,
Would we know the truth? – would we even care?
If we had minds to comprehend,
Would we go mad or would we follow you?
If we had ears to listen,
Would we drown you out with our own thoughts?
If we had hearts to love you,
Would you come and catch us as we fall? – catch us as we fall
