Story Behind the Song
This song was written right before the spring of 2000.According to TG,it wasn't originally intended for him to do the song.He wanted to have a white girl rhyme all the lyrics(which to most people is somewhat odd).As chance would have it,he found one.Not really an MC,but a girl who wanted to be someone in the music business. She agreed to collaborate with T and the two went to work right away.Unfortunately, the results did not come out well.It took over ten Maxell cassette tapes,$50 worth of fast food,5 bottles of water,5 subway trips and 5 days to record.Pathetic, isn't it? TG parted ways with her a few months and threw everything that had to do with the song away.Later in the summer of 2001 while cleaning up his bedroom,he found the original lyrics of the song.Thinking back to the past experiences,he decided that he should record the song himself so he went to work, rewrote the lyrics, added new parts and rushed to the studio. He added that old school feeling into everything in the song.Unlike the original version,it took TG 2 hours to record and one take along voice and scratch overdubs.
