First track off the 1999 release of Crucifer "The World Dies 1989-1999"
tearing your soul apart after the short intro borrowed from the Hellraiser series,
Soul Within is a fast, furious and brutal sampling of the power of Crucifer.
From the powerful, intricate drumming of Jeff Riddle to the shredding guitars
of Brian Ronquest to the pounding sub octave bass playing of Steve Snyder,
Crucifer remain a force in original Death Metal Styles.r |

Story Behind the Song
One of the first tracks written for the release that was to be called
"Sickly Divine", Soul Within was scrapped along with 10 more songs
and later remixed and combined with new tracks to appear on the
compilation/farewell CD "The World Dies 1989-1999".
The song is basically about a person at their breaking point, the stress
of life, succeeding, balance of power and mental capacity caving in
at once.
This song was tracked at Salamone's Recording studio in Fredericskburg, Virginia in the spring of 1996 and later put in the vault after financial problems plagued the original sessions. Drummer Jeff Riddle and Guitarist Brian Ronquest later reunited to add additional vocal and guitar tracks and remix this song (along with 5 others) at Neptune Recording in Occoquan, Virginia
for the "World Dies" release in the spring of 1999.p
Lyrics
SOUL WITHIN
Lyrics: Ronquest
Music: Ronquest, Riddle, Snyder
Screaming-Folding under stress
Searching-Looking to escape
Tension-reached its limit
Release-The only answer
Soul Within
Full of Sin
Soul Within
Lies
Exploding-in the face of truth
Risks-Taken and then Lost
Living-only through a haze
Dying-but waking every day
Soul Within
Full of Sin
Soul Within
Agony
(Repeat)
Finding-an ending to your pain
Loading-a bullet for your brain
Firing-the shot to end it all
Knowing-you have gone insane
Soul Within
Full of Sin
Soul Within
Agony
