Story Behind the Song
As I said before, this is a tune I heard done by John Hammond who did it with his band. But I, without a band, had to perform it on an acoustic guitar. There were originally 3 guitar parts on his recording, so I had to play all 3, as well as the harmonica and sing. Tough stuff on my fingers, you try doing it on a National Guitar with size 13 strings! I was in pain after this one, but it came out nice, though. I especially like the harmonica.
Lyrics
Yeah my woman's so lowdown she barrelhouses all the time
Yeah my woman's so lowdown she barrelhouses all the time
Yeah she's low and she's squatted but I love that barrelhouse gal of mine
Well she wakes up in the morning, she starts drinking her corn
Yeah, she wakes up in the morning, she starts drinking her corn
Every time I think of that woman, wish I never was born
Yes, she struts around all day, she barrelhouses the whole night through
Yes, she struts around all day, she barrelhouses the whole night through
Yeah, when she loves me, forget I ever was blue
