An intentionally basic song about alien abduction. |
CD: Monkeys of Destiny
Credits: Mike Modlin lyrics and music, Greg Grand music |
Story Behind the Song
This song began as a conversation about my beliefs on alien life. As I was talking - they (the people I was talking to) told me keep talking. They started playing a simple beat and what I was saying fit in with the beat. We changed the words around a bit to fit into the music and voila! Planet Xyne.

When I look up at the sky and I see our sun
It’s simply a star, like the other ones
In the night sky
With trillions of stars, are we by ourself?
Who are we to think that there isn’t somewhere else
Out there
Where the sun in its orbit
Is 5 degrees different
Only 5 degrees different
On Planet Xyne
(Repeat)
The people there aren’t like you and me
They’re small and gray and often see
Earthlings from a different view
They like to look inside you
You’ll be driving along in your car at night,
And as time freezes, you notice a light
From above
Always above
Where the sun in its orbit
Is 5 degrees different
Only 5 degrees different
On Planet Xyne
(Repeat)
Where the trees are made of iron, the rocks are soft
Experiments conducted, your DNA is taught
To the millions
Speeding foreign craft is splitting the light
Returning you “safely” and Earth is in sight
But you’re different
3 strange hours later, you’re back in your car
But it seemed like a minute and you haven’t gone far
But you’re home
Home sweet home (Home Sweet Home)
Where the sun in its orbit
Is 5 degrees different
Only 5 degrees different
On Planet Earth
