    Story Behind the Song
Years ago the MOB adopted as its theme verse: "Remember the Creator in the days of your youth..." Ecclesiastes 12:1. This verse goes on to say that a day comes when you don't delight in your days on this planet...that as you age you harden. I have met several you have maintained a youthful tenderness through their aging, and in many of these I find that as they discovered Jesus Christ early in life, they allowed him to cultivate the childlike (not childish, but rather childlike...big difference) spirit that has kept them afloat.

In this age, kids watch better than they hear. The best sermon that the adult world can give is a life that is walking close to God. My friend, Meredith Wheeler, always used to quote this "proverb": "Never let negative behavior influence your mindset toward a teenager." Pray for that childlike spirit. And help kids to remember it...but don't be surprised if that "child" stuff doesn't show up for awhile. It isn't cool once they turn 12 or so. But don't worry. With time, it will return.

    Lyrics
    (Dedicated to Beth Morgan)
    Chorus:
Here's to you of a young
    And tender age.
    When everything seems new
    Each time you turn around.
    For I know the view
    From your front door
    Is one I've seen before.
When I was of a young and
    Tender age.
    You see, a generation's gone.
    We thought that we
    Would always linger on.
And that our youth would last.
There are some still living in
    That dream.
    Feeling like their youth
    Is a never ending stream
Rather than a day that's past.
You have a life that God has given.
You can make it worth the livin'.
If you choose to let Him lead.

    Chorus

    And these are young and
    tender years.
    Full of heartbreaks, memories,
    and fears.
    And finding trails.
    And you can choose
    To play the fads.
The good times and the bad.
    Or you can find that
    Jesus never fails.
You can turn life upside down
With this new life you have found.
Or you can choose to let Him lead.

    Chorus

    And here's to you
Of a young and tender age.
You can find a God so true
    Each time you turn around.
Can't you see the view from
    Your front door.
He'll give you so much more
    To help you through
    This young and tender age.
