A road song about experiences not yet experienced. With a rolling rythmn and melody to take you on that drive.
CD: Live At the Radio Bean   Label: 211 RPM
Credits: Words and Music By Dana Monteith

    Story Behind the Song
This was one of the first songs I wrote for myself rather than for Ominous Seapods. The lyrics were written from experiences not yet experienced. The Seapods eventually started playing "Unmarked Trunk" and at our last gig I realized what the song was about. It was about a future and now that future was upon me. This song took about an hour to write. The version presented here was recorded live at the Radio Bean Coffee House in Burlington, VT on 2/28/02.

    Lyrics
smoking cigarettes on a unmade bed
my time in heaven is surely spent
i lost all my friends in an unmarked trunk
    somewhere along the way
i remember the time when i was
    almost drunk

wish i could live in the back of a cadillac
on some street in new orleans
    i would never come back
i would have a full compass to navigate the day
i might have something to write about
i might have something to say

but now i'm smoking cigarettes on a unmade bed
my time in heaven is surely spent
i lost all my friends in an unmarked trunk
    somewhere along the way
i remember the time when i was
    almost drunk

some say were on the miracle mile
this is the longest mile i've ever driven
life can be like a motorcycle accident
you don't know what hit you
till your flat out on your back

well i'm smoking cigarettes on a unmade bed
my time in heaven is surely spent
i lost all my friends in an unmarked trunk
    somewhere along the way
i remember the time when i was
    almost drunk

got to keep rolling now matter how cold it gets
i can't stop now i've got no time to rest
well i'm out on the highway
    and i'm driving that cadillac
heading down to new orleans i ain't never coming back

but now i'm smoking cigarettes on a unmade bed
my time in heaven is surely spent
i lost all my friends in an unmarked trunk
    somewhere along the way
i remember the time when i
lost all my friends in an unmarked trunk
    somewhere along the way
i remember the time when i was almost drunk
