	Story Behind the Song I wrote this song during a transitional period in my life when I was struggling with the challenge of trying to manage all the many changes in life... growing older, my children becoming adults, long term relationships coming to an end... Lyrics DID YOU EVER WONDER WHY IT IS THAT THINGS JUST SLIP AWAY? THE THINGS WE HOLD SO DEAR IN LIFE ARE THE THINGS THAT JUST DON’T STAY. WE HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE WHEN LITTLE DO WE KNOW THE PROBLEMS START WHEN WE HOLD SO TIGHT, INSTEAD OF LETTING GO. WE HOLD ONTO PREJUDICE ON WHICH HATE AND ANGER FEED, WE HOLD ONTO ANCIENT WAYS THAT NO LONGER SUIT OR NEEDS, WE HOLD ONTO OLD IDEAS THAT KEEP US IN THE DARK, WE HOLD ONTO FEELINGS THAT PIERCE AND WOUND OUR HEARTS.
