    Story Behind the Song
During the Civil War wounded soldiers were often placed under large shady trees to keep them out of the sun. Because of the poor medical conditions, many of these soldiers died and these trees came to be known as "Dying Trees". What would these soldiers say to us as they faced "their final time and place"? What will we say and how will we be remembered as we approach our own end?

    Lyrics
    Dying Tree

Verse 1: If you came face to face with your final time and place would it tend to keep you in line? 'Cause we're always lookin' for what we don't have and more, and still we're leavin' somethin' behind.
Prechorus 1: I fear today that I'll fade away and fate you know will have its say. I hope the future's kind enough to keep me in mind.
Chorus: Remember me under the dying tree as Time holds me in His hands. Picture me carried upon a breeze at peace, oh Lord at peace.
Verse 2: So you've come face to face with my final resting place. Tell me what the stones speak to you. 'Cause today you picture me, but tomorrow you will be brushed aside like dust for the new.
Prechorus 2: Do you fear today that you'll fade away and fate you know will have its say? I hope the future's kind enough to keep you in mind.
    Bridge/Chorus/Solo/Chorus
