Story Behind the Song
"I really like this song, it's a summer song, and I like summer songs - I'm a summer person"
The first line came into my head when I went down to London to audition for Soap Stars with my girlfriend Lyanne and her friend Amy. We missed the audition (thankfully!) and the weekend ended up with us seeing Amy off on the train in torrential rain.
I wanted to write a story, as most of my songs exist around some form of self experience however insignificant, and I wanted to write something that didn't really mean anything, but was ambiguous enough to have many meanings, much like Dawson's Creek, I should definitely be on the soundtrack!
Lyrics
Amy took a train to another place, She Said
"I need some time with another face instead", She turned her back, kicked her heels and fled, And broke his smile like she was breaking bread.
Angelo wasn't just your normal guy,
He packed his thoughts into a lullaby,
And sang pictures of the morning night,
While Amy tool advantage of her single life, she said, "What Angelo wanted, I will never understand."
Angelo never was the kind of man,
To sit alone and hold his head in his hands,
He put a picture of a foreign place,
Above his bed right in front of his face.
He got a job at the local bar, Delivered pizza and he sold his car, Put all the money in his travelling jar, Because Amy had gone but she'd not gone far, and he said, "I never would have wanted, to ever go this far."
Good bye Lullaby
Amy broke her smile in the other place,
She said "I'm wasting time with this other face, While Angelo thought about his dream to chase, He said "I never guessed I'd be second place". He left his job at the local bar, Took all the money from his travelling jar, Amy asked herself if she'd gone too far, While Angelo had left with his broken heart, and he said: "I never would have wanted, to ever go this far".
Good bye Lullaby.
