    Story Behind the Song
I was holidaying in Bateau Bay in NSW Australia and my wife and I went to neighbouring Terrigal for dinner. While there, we saw a very full silver moon. We returned to Bateau Bay and walked along the beach but I could see no moon which was very strange. The song was difficult and took me many edits to create the sound and write the lyrics which would convey my experience accurately.

    Lyrics
I walked along the sandy beach tonight in Bateau Bay
The stars were shining, the sky was clear but something was so strange
There was no moon to light my way but I'd seen it just before
It had hung suspended like a silver ball over beautiful Terrigal

Oh the moon was there right before my eyes
Just as my love is true to me and the stars are true to the sky
But I can't explain that night on the bay when the stars were out in full while the moon was away in Terrigal

Some things in life you just can't easily explain away
Was it just my state of mind or did something happen today?
An omen good or bad beheld my wond'ring eyes
On the night someone stole the moon from the sky
    Chorus

Reflections of my life and times flooded 'cross my weary mind
As I pondered my destiny gazing at a moonless sky on that night
    Chorus
