    Story Behind the Song
This is the second piece that I've done with vocals, so I'm still trying to find my "style" and range. My intention with this was for the vocals to kind of flow in with the music -- not to be a focal point -- and to sound slightly "robotic" without being actually vocoded (so typical).

The lyrics were written directed at another person (a close friend, actually), but are mostly about myself... Which becomes evident in the last verse.

    Lyrics
    You want to be enlightened
    Well then be my guest
I'll roll out blood red carpet
    For your almightyness
I'll get down on my knees
    And I'll confess my sins
Then I'll point right to the spot
    Where your head has been

    I've got no reserve
    When it comes to this
If you don't see it by now
Then I'd be happy to bless you
    With a third eye
    Open to your deluded mind
And a soul that spawns emptiness
    Every time

    You want to be fulfilled
Well it takes more than this
You've got a long way to go
    To reach true happiness
    You can keep on fighting
    But then you'll never love
And you'll never see the self
    That you decided to shove

    Back down to the depths
    Of your hollowed chest
Where you've locked away the future
    For the past's regrets
    It pains me to see
So I put hands to my head
I could cry 'til I die
    I'd rather try instead

    To mend in myself
Why I know you so well
Will we ever break through this?
    Only time will tell
I know there's more to life
    Than what we're shown
But will we ever find it
    Alone?
