Pavel Chesnokov (1877-1944) was one of the most prominent figures in Russian choral culture of the first half of the XXth century. His musical education started when he was five, in a church choir. Remarkable gift for music and an excellent voice gave the seven-years old boy an opportunity te enter the Moskow Synodal school, on graduating from which he was awarded a gold medal. In 1913 he entered the Moskow Conservatoire and in 1920 he became its professor. As a composer p.Chesnokov enjjoyed world-wide fame.
