Story Behind the Song
I really don't know. It's been heralded as a graduation song, and my mom thinks it's about 9/11, even though I wrote the first half of it about a year beforehand.
Lyrics
Lookin' for the sun, lookin' past the sunset.
I felt just like we won, I guess that I was wrong.
I looked into the sky, these moments pass us by, am I, the only one?
And I try to hold on, to what I've got but it's already gone.
We will fly, not to be outdone.
Higher than anyone.
I'll try again.
Lookin' for the rain, lookin' past the forcast.
I feel there's been a change, but I feel like I'm the same.
De ja vu all the time, so I know it's not the first time.
Thanks everybody, it's been fun.
And I try to hold on, to what I've got but it's already gone.
We will fly, not to be outdone.
Higher than anyone.
I'll try again.
And maybe the sky will fall.
Baby I tried, to take you away from it all.
And you couldn;t wait, to get out of this town for good.
Your true motives, were soon to be understood.
And I try to hold on, to what I've got but it's already gone.
We will fly, not to be outdone.
Higher than anyone.
I'll try again.
And I try to hold on, to what I've got but it's already gone.
We will fly, not to be outdone.
Higher than anyone.
I'll fly again.
