Story Behind the Song
I once heard a conversation about the perfection of the cheeseburger. It has pure yellow of cheese, pure red of the ketchup, and pure green of the pickles. Someone asked about the color blue, and this guy (John Mayer) said something along the lines of "There's no blue in nature." I took that idea and went nanners with it.
Lyrics
I see red in the fire of your eyes, it burns like an inferno at night. And I see red in the September skies, that burn up the late August light. A yellow sunrise can keep me alive, at least for just one more day. When I look to you for suprise, all I get are shades of grey.
Its a crayola cavalcade, crashing down on me everyday. Only one thing that I can say, Only you make me feel this way,
Because Blue is not natural, no blue is not natural, you make me blue and that's not natural. All I get are shades of blue from you.
You keep telling me go for the gold, but silver seems alright with me. Though it may not be so bold, its just where I gotta be. Orange can tell me where not to go, though I see you wear an orange shirt. I still go for you though I know, I could end up getting hurt.
Black and white are so hard to define, without using the words "black and white." Are they the dark spots inside my mind, or the absence and the brilliance of light? Don't you question where we're gonna go, before we have even left home. Just pack the bags and we'll hit the road, the greenlights will tell us where to go.
