What was the last good dog song you ever heard? What was the last dog song of ANY kind you heard? The problem is that people, not dogs, write the songs. Here's a song from my yellow lab's point of view. |
CD: Jonathan Hoffman: Best Friends
Label: Shelterdog Music: now available on www.cdbaby.com
Credits: Jonathan Hoffman: lyrics & melody, vocal and guitar; Paul Connor, dobro; Peter Christenson, harmonica; Gary Landsberg, electric bass; Watson, dog howls |
Story Behind the Song
Watson began singing this song with me when I would take him to the dog park, so I figured that the two of us should record it. We rescued him from the pound, and he uses the pound dog look whenever it helps him get whatever he wants.
Lyrics
I'm a blue yellow lab
Them blues have got me down (REPEAT)
'Cause my low-down owners
Won't let me run all over town.
I'm not a picky eater
Any steak or cheese will do.
I'm not a picky eater
Just gimme some of them hot dogs, too.
But if I don't choose to quibble
You'll choose that same old kibble stew.
I like to sleep on your pillow
It's softer than my own bed (REPEAT)
You want those fuzzy ears,
But you'll get that ol' doggy breath instead.
So keep your eye on my ears
They'll tell you when I got the blues (REPEAT)
'Cause I'm just a poor ol' shelter dog
Lookin' so you can't refuse.
REPEAT FIRST VERSE
