Story Behind the Song
Originally composed in 1989, it was rearranged for the stage musical 'The Company' in the Millenium year 2000. This stand-alone pop style version was prepared earlier this summer, 2001, but retains much of the original lush instrumentation.
Lyrics
I don’t know where you are
I know that you’re not here,
But it’s funny how it seems
You’re walking through my dreams
And it makes me long for sleep to come
So I’ll see your face again…
But how shall I awake
When you’re so far away?
Like a tree in wintertime
Must wait for the sun to shine
I will wait for you to come to me
And then I’ll dream no more… no more…
I wait to be…
I hope to be…
I long, to be, with you, again (x2)
One hundred years of dreams of you
Are nothing to compare
With one sweet waking moment’s joy
When you are really there…
I just want you to know
Wherever you may be,
Like a tree in wintertime,
I will wait for the sun to shine
I will wait for you to smile on me
And then I’ll dream no more
Chorus x 2
