Story Behind the Song
Nothing in this world will ever compare to the feelings that I felt when my son was born. I know that the Good Lord intended for me to be a father, cause nothing in this world fits me better. The love that I feel for my son simply goes beyond words.
I wrote this lullaby for Brodie right after his birth. The experience of being with Vickie as she gave birth to our son was all the inspiration that I needed to write this song, I opened up my heart and the words came out.
This is the actual song as it was recorded onto a cassette tape circa 1992.
Lyrics
Hey there little man
Arent you a sight to see,
A loving new addition
To our brand new family.
Tears of joy fell from my eyes
With your first breath of life,
A reflection of your mom and I
You fill my heart with pride.
Sleep tight little man of mine
Cast aside your fears,
Daddys here to comfort you
And wipe away your tears.
Sleep tight little man of mine
Let peaceful dreams dance through your head,
The Lord is watching over you
Sleep peaceful in your bed.
When I hold you in my arms
Im filled with joy and love,
So innocent and precious
The greatest gift from God above.
Of all the wonders in this world
Nothing holds a candle to,
The feeling that came over me
The day your mama gave birth to you.
Sleep tight little man of mine
Cast aside your fears,
Daddys here to comfort you
And wipe away your tears.
Sleep tight little man of mine
Let peaceful dreams dance through your head,
The Lord is watching over you
Sleep peaceful in your bed.
I look forward to the days
Of baseball gloves and puppy dogs,
Camping trips together
Climbing trees and catching frogs.
Till then just lay down in my arms
And rest your weary eyes,
And drift asleep while daddy sings
Your bedtime lullaby.
So sleep tight little man of mine
Cast aside your fears,
Daddys here to comfort you
And wipe away your tears.
Sleep tight little man of mine
Let peaceful dreams dance through your head,
The Lord is watching over you
Sleep peaceful in your bed.
