Shakin' the House - Here's where my Inner Child
gets to come out and sing. It's sad to start, but when we get to
the end, it's cheerfully defiant. I enjoy the turnaround!
Now I'm grown up and I'm healing and rising
speak my life in a song,
Be strong,
find that I been heavy too long.
This time's true, _I_ choose what I do,
And now I'm shakin' the house - STOMP!
Have fun shakin' the house - STOMP, STOMP!

Story Behind the Song
This is autobiographical - these things were said to me, and I felt sad
about them, until finally I said to myself, "Y'know what? Let's dance
anyway!" So now, I do. *grin*
Lyrics
Shakin' the House by Peg Fisher
I wanna hug, but my Granny won't let me -
Says I'm too big for that now.
I'm four,
There is Mrs. Neighbor-Next-Door,
She says I look six,
I must be too big.
I wanna dance, but my Daddy won't let me -
He says I'm shakin' the house.
I'm eight.
Am I such a piggy big weight?
Daddy says so...
I guess he must know.
Carried that hurt with me all those years -
Eats like a pig. Must be too big.
Many tears....
Now I'm grown up, and I'm healing and rising,
Speak my life in a song -
Be strong,
Find that I've been heavy too long -
This time's true, _I_ choose what I do,
And now I'm shakin' the house STOMP!
Have fun shakin' the house! STOMP, STOMP!
