Story Behind the Song
This song was written in 1996, shortly after John had been brought aboard. The story of the song was given to John by a friend of his, Jeff Anderson. Jeff claimed the song to be about his older sister, whom had had her troubles with drugs and men in the past. The main riff of the song was something that Dave had played with occasionally, after he had shown it to the band it took only minutes for them to come together with what has become one of the bands most prolific stage songs.
Lyrics
Well she feels so alone
wakes up at a quarter past one
And decides- It's time- to go home
Well all those sleepless nights
So many without lights
It's such a small town
The girl moves
In a daze
Hang yourself in the loop
hang yourself in the loop
hang yourself in the loop baby
There's a voice on the phone
no question who it is
They tell it's not right- but she can't see
Well all those sleepless nights
so many without lights
it's such a small town
the girl moves
In a daze
hang yourself in the loop
Hang yourself in the loop
Hang yourself in the loop baby
Well here in comes daylight
and now she can see
She ain't gonna take no shit
The five fingers I use to hit
Well all those sleepless nights
So many with out lights
It's such a small town
the girl moves
In a daze.....
Hang yourself in the loop
Hang yourself in the loop
Hang yourself in the loop baby
