	Story Behind the Song Blank was the last song on the album to be recorded. Sitting in the studio, putting the final touches on the project, Jonathan and David English found themselves with a little less than two hours to kill. So there was a drum set there already, and it was miked and everything, so I told Dave, Hey, lets just jam and see what we get, said Jonathan English. Ten minutes and one take later, the guys had written Blank. The whole thing, from the time we sat down to play it the first time, until we had all the tracks laid down didnt take more than a total of probably two hours, said Jonathan. We did everything in one take, which is kind of the recording equivalent of jumping out of a plane without a back-up parachute. But Mark (producer Mark Dufour) knows his stuff, and he had it all lined up and sounding beautiful for us in no time. The songs lyrics centers the same thing every good pop song centers around: young, anguished love. I had been pursuing this girl for a little over a year, and it was going no where. It wasnt the kind of thing that I wanted to turn into a song, but we needed some lyrics in a hurry, so I jotted them down on a break, Jonathan said. Ironically enough, that same girl was in the car with me later on that day, and I had an unfinished cut of the song in the CD player. It didnt have the vocal tracks on it yet, so she asked me to sing the words. I was pretty hesitant. It was like Great. My cover is totally blown now. But I sang them for her right there in the car, and she never let on that she had any clue the song was about her.
