    Story Behind the Song
On this song about people who don't appreciate nice things you do for them I proudly wear my influence of Ray Davies and the Kinks. The Kinks have always been one of my very favorite groups. Everytime I listen to their albums I hear new things that inspire me as a songwriter.

    Lyrics
It was an act of kindness that you chose to throw into the wind

Well it was once upon a time
You and I were doing fine
And I treated you like any good man should
Well there's just no place where you could find
Someone who would have been more kind
And tried to keep to always feeling good

But then you pushed me off the ride
And left me stranded on the side
And continued on your way without a care
Well it kept me down for quite a while
Are friends who care just not your style
You had a good thing by your side but left it there

It was an act of kindness that you chose to throw into the wind

    Then you let somebody in
You were on your feet again
But he doesn't seem to care about how you feel
Well, could you really be so blind
To not see just what lay behind
His bitter eyes, some things you can't conceal

It was an act of kindness that you chose to throw into the wind

Well I can't see for the life of me
Just how you thought in him could be
The love you felt I could not give
Is this the way you want to live?
And if that's so, that's awfully strange to me

Well you can have the life you lead
If you feel that's what you need
And you're happy with the mess it seems you've found
    We'll I've someone new, we're doing fine
Above the world we've started flying
So my farewell to you there on the ground

It was an act of kindness that you chose to throw into the wind
It was an act of kindness that you chose to throw into the wind
    Oh yeah
    Oh yeah
    Oh yea
