This song is a combination of soft, textural elements with
loud, distorted aggression. It's a sonic expression of rejection and
alienation. |

Story Behind the Song
This is a song for anyone who has been rejected for reasons that are less
than just. Whether it be racial discrimination, age discrimination,
sexual alienation, or even not being in the "In-Crowd" in junior high
school, this song applies to all of the above and more. The soft,
undistorted sections of the song are representative of the facade that a
person has to put up in order to maintain an "acceptable" outward appearance
The distorted parts are an explosion of what is really inside.
The musical inspiration for this song comes from a number of sources.
The most obvious are influences such as Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne,
Dream Theater and similar bands. The clean parts of this song came from
random experimentation. I messed around with arpeggios and chords
until I found something that I like. The main distorted riff comes from a
variation on a small (only eight notes) section of Paganini's fifth caprice.
I experimented with half of a measure of that caprice until I found something
heavy and (what I hope is) unique. I ended up using a "drop-D" tuning
because it changed the pattern that I was working with to something
different than what it was in the first place
Lyrics
As of right now, this song is strictly instrumental. I am still trying to write
lyrics that express what I want to express.
