    Story Behind the Song
This song is about the first time that I allowed myself to take down my guard and to give myself completely to another person. It's about being able to retain your independence while simultaneously devoting yourself to a relationship with someone else. And, of course, it's about the stomach-dropping stage of falling in love (what song isn't, really?) and inviting the other person into my life.

    Lyrics
The trees dance violently at the side of the road
    It's 3 am and I'm speeding home
I roll the windows down and I scream:
'I just can't take this anymore'
But there's a picture of you on my dashboard

I've got this urge in me that keeps me gone
I never like to stay in one place for very long
    I'm a fierce independent
    I am liberated and free
But your figure in the rearview mirror
It breaks my heart to see

    CHORUS:
    So pack your bags, dear
We'll leave our taillights in the rain
In the movie of my life
That scene's the most common frame
    I live with intensity
Tucked just below the surface of a mystery
    But really I think
    We're both the same

There's something about you that keeps my spirit alive
I find myself smiling, I'm laughing all of the time
There's a new slight dance in my step
    Walkin' down the street
And I slip in stories about you
    To every stranger I meet

    CHORUS:
    So pack your bags, dear
We'll leave our taillights in the rain
In the movie of my life
That scene's the most common frame
    I live with intensity
Tucked just below the surface of a mystery
    But really I think
    We're both the same

There's something about us that's fresh and new each day
And that's what I've been searching for
    All this time away
    Unexpected describes everything you do
    You made your mark
Now I'm throwing down my anchor in you

    CHORUS (rev.):
    Don't pack your bags, dear
No need for taillights in the rain
In the movie of our life
I'll share with you my every frame
    We'll live with intensity
Tucked just below the surface of our mystery
    Cause really I think
    We're both the same

The trees dance gracefully at the side of the road
You kiss me through the window
    And say:
'Girl, I'm so glad you're home.'
