An ode to my favorite whiskey, Weller's Old 107 Special Reserve. It's a plain old Honky Tonk style drinkin' song with a catchy chorus an' some screamin' guitar playin'.
CD: Crooked Country   Label: Ace of Hearts Records
Credits: produced by Richard W. harte

    Story Behind the Song
Not much explainin' needed for this song; it pretty much tells the whole story on it's own. Written one morning when I got home from driving cab all night after some gal or another dumped me- it took about one bottle of Weller's to write it.

Wrote quick. Recorded quick. Sung quick. Wrote it 'cause Weller's Old No. 7 Special Reserve 107 proof Whiskey was a whole lot more near to my heart than the gal who left. Lyrics on the bridge come from the back of the bottle - I got stuck for words, but once again, Whiskey came to the rescue.

Special Thanks to Robert Holmes (from one of Boston's great '80's bands, 'til Tuesday) for his searing guitar work and great humor in the studio, and to Kathy Burkly who came in and did the drums in one damn take, and had the perfect snare sound! Very special thanks to Rick Harte and Ace Of Hearts Records for believing in me when no one else did & bringing this thing to life.

Now go buy the dang CD so me an' him can feed our kids! ! ! !

    Lyrics
Baby, you can go ahead & break my heart
Seems like it's every woman's favorite sport
& it's got to where it don't hardly even hurt no more
Take me to the cleaners, take me to the bank
Step on my boots or piss in my hat
    But that 107 is a' stayin' right where it's at . . .

    Chorus (2x)
Keep your hands off that bottle
    Leave my whiskey alone -
I'm gonna need that Weller's to help me feel better
    When you are gone

Baby, you could take Jack or you can take Jim
Or you can take Jose, I know that you like him
But that 107's gonna stay right on my shelf -
Drink my vodka, my tequila or beer
But the Weller's whiskey, it's a stayin right here
I got a feelin that I'm gonna be needin' that myself

    (Chorus)

Born of pure spring water -
    Cascading thru' limestone -
Seven lazy Kentucky summers aged in
    Sweet Mountian Oak . . . .

    (repeat Chorus til end)
