Story Behind the Song
There is a description in the Bible of the battle at Armagedon, in which the forces of good come against the forces of evil. specifically, the statement, "blood shall flow to the horses bridal." To the writer that taken literally, is a considerable depth of blood and represents a very great loss of life and unthinkable violence. The lyrics depict ones wish that such things should not have to come to pass and that there might be a ship, on which those who love peace, might sail away and not have to witness it.
The song was written in the mountains of western North Carolina and northeast Tennessee. A location where the world can be seen as the beautiful place it is, and a meditative mood can be easily reached.
Seven days in writting, a year in waiting, the first demo was recorded and caught the attention of the pubishers at West Walnut Music Group. Three takes and the product is delivered.
Lyrics
SAIL THIS SHIP
Wish I could sail this ship away
to that day in my mind
where you and I like children play
every day throughout all time
Love it's within your power
shine your light on me
touch me in every hour least I fall indeed
woke from a dream and I looked up to see
my brothers holding to others
beyond my eyes
the love in the song that they sing
as It rang shook the mountain
ELAIH
scarlet rose to the bridle
smoke filled a clear blue sky
as I looked away I could hear my heart pray
heal these eyes
wish I could sail this ship away
wish I could sail this ship away etc. etc.
