Story Behind the Song
David says that one day he was listening to Hank Williams Sr. and wondered why no one seemed to strive for genius in simple songs anymore. So he sat down to write a song that he thought Hank Senior might have liked. In then end, it sounded more like Carl Perkins then Hank Sr, but it's still simple and fun.
David recorded the song at his home studio, and although there are no plans to put this on an upcoming CD, we provide it as an example of David's musical diversity.

Lyrics
You wanna be here and you wanna go there.
You wanna be classy with pigtails in your hair.
Well, huh uh baby, you can't have it both ways.
You wanna run barefoot down the corn rows
But you don't wanna feel the snakes between your toes
Well, huh uh baby, you can't have it both ways.
CHORUS
You wanna waltz and you wanna rockabilly
You dress up in satin and then act silly
You wanna have your cake and it too girl
But you can't wear pigtails with your mama's pearls.
You can't always win when you play poker.
You wanna drink gin, Daddy said stay sober.
Well, huh uh baby, you can't have it both ways.
You want it to snow but not to get colder
You wish for Friday but not to get older
Well, huh uh baby, you can't have it both ways.
