Almost entitled, "What Kind of Conversation Is This?", which would have described it perfectly. This song will one day be seen as the perfect tool for measuring the value of every conversation in the world, and so it definitely fills a void. |

Story Behind the Song
Although likely to seem cynical or even silly, this song exists for the serious purpose of stating or restating part of the social contract regarding communication. Something like that should only exist as a song. I kept it simple, and spent far less time actuating it than I did cogitating on its elements over time.
Lyrics
Good evening ladies and gentlemen
This song is dedicated to all the people who've shouted "fire" in a theatre that was on fire, and then somebody made a recording and played back their words in a theatre that wasn't on fire
It's not your fault, don't let them blame you for that
What kind of conversation is this
When there's something so very important that isn't being said?
What kind of conversation is this
Is it time for us all to just massage eachother's heads?
I know it's not fair
When words come flying at you
And you've only got 3.2 seconds to fit each one in
With the up-to-the-moment state of your life
And then there are sentences, paragraphs, pages
Where does a person begin, but
What kind of conversation is this
When there's something so very important that isn't being said?
Does this conversation exist to build certain kinds of silences
And the silences go on
Are the silences here to build up
Some of the words in somebody else's conversation
What kind of conversation is this?
Maybe I think you're acting goofy
When you take yourself seriously
What you're saying means something
But it doesn't mean enough to me
I've got something to say
But don't look for my meaning here
What kind of conversation is this
Just something that rhymes in your ear
