Story Behind the Song
This song is one of those hopeful love songs written during a time of loneliness. I wrote it in 1994, and finally recorded it "officially" in July, 1999. This version represents the second take, and I recorded it live, playing guitar and singing. I added bass, tambourine and lead guitar later.
Lyrics
You would always be
Someone in the corner of my eye
Standing on the side
While my life was tumbling left and right
And sometimes I get to feeling so lonely
Then one day I saw you
A vision right before my eyes
Standing so clearly
As if I could've seen you for miles
And sometimes I get to feeling so lonely
Chorus:
Let me be the one
To show you the way
Let me be the light
When you feel you lost your way
Cuz I've been down that road
Where it ends no one can say
So come on with me babe
There's no place to far away
Now you come to me:
You're looking around and stepping cautiously
Not feeling quite ourselves
Sometimes we head along a little dangerously
And sometimes we get to feeling so lonely
Chorus
You say: sometimes life can get you down
Well, I know that, because I've been down that road before
When you try to live and try to breathe and try to smile, but all you feel is hurt inside
And sometimes, I get to feeling so lonely...
Chorus
End
