Story Behind the Song
This song was written after the release of my CD "Universal Visions" by Negril Studio Music Lable. At the time it was a view of society as I was seeing it. It went through several facelifts through the last few years both in lyrics and music. This version done at Rainbow Productions was one take, although our producer, Charley Groth, is planing on adding more back up sound to it at some point.
Lyrics
The young man sat at the railroad track, looking to the east and the west.
Which way is the wind blowing, which way does it come best.
He hasn't got an answer and he doen't have a prayer;
You can't be some place, if you're never there.
He doesn't need another lecture all about the human race.
STANDING INSIDE A HURRICANE, RAIN POURING ACROSS HIS FACE.
The woman sat beside the pool; her reflection shows her pain.
She never did ask to feel this way; if she did she was insane.
She gave up her innocence for only a few cents;
everything in her life is in the past tense.
She knows she's not special, just another social case.
STANDING INSIDE A HURRICANE, RAIN POURING ACROSS HER FACE.
(bridge)
People always want things to be different then they are.
Not satisfied with being alive they sometimes go to far.
They take away their safety net, and then they try to fly.
When they crash to earth they always ask you why.
They never understand themselves or their own place.
STANDING INSIDE A HURRICANE, RAIN POURING ACROSS THEIR FACE.
The man stood by the side of the road, feeling himself grow older.
The weight of all the mistakes he made is bearing on his shoulders.
He thought he took the high road on his last fall;
has to tie up some loose ends before he makes a call.
He's learned what he can, at his own pace.
STANDING INSIDE A HURRICANE, RAIN POURING ACROSS HIS FACE.
(repeat bridge)
