Story Behind the Song
Vampire theatre was inspired by a combination of things. The novels of Anne Rice certainly but more accurately the disillusionment of a failing religion and the real "Theatre de Vampires" which existed shortly after the French revolution in Paris France and was one of a number of "decadent" and "post revolutionary" forms of entertainment that the so called "liberated" humanists indulged in. Written originally in New Mexico as a predominanly raw hard rock song, it was refined and re-recorded in its present fashion in Sonoma County, California where the wine is ... well , so much better!
Lyrics
I see you every night, and lady I believe the time has come to show you my identity
I've waited long enough and though you fit like a glove
I'm walking in your shadow, and I, I'm in your blood.
Claim a higher power, does it set you free?
You could end the reign of terror in the name of your theocracy
But I've waited long enough for that peaceful white dove
No angel of light is gonna fool me
Cause I've got vampire love
If I take some pleasure from another tree, what in the hell are you to me
I will blow holes in your ego, I will reap the seed youve sown
Maybe now this halo will shine through this crown of thorns..maybe now
"Bonsoir, veuillez souhaiter le bienvenue a des amis de longue date le theatre de vampires"
Just a little accident, a little taste of blood
A little hole in your neck, a little vampire love
Whatever he can't do for you, you know I always can,
One step right behind you, I'm the boogie man
