	Story Behind the Song I decided to write this song when I saw a rootsman cooking on the beach in Jamaica 22 years ago. The lyrics express the determination to succeed in life. I wrote the song while sitting at home, it took me about a half hour to finish it. It took 2 hours to record in approximately 4 takes. Lyrics (Chorus) The rootsman is here to stay The rootsman, he's gonna have his way It's a long time he's been treated with scorn. Too long now its been going on. But as long as his pot can bubble Every wicked guy will be in trouble.
