Lyrics
Rats Nest of a Heart
You really put on a fine show.
You learned your lines and knew just where to stand.
You know I thought that it was all-real although looking back
there were some things that didn’t really quite appeal to me.
Where was I when I was with you?
I always had a real hard time telling you just how I was feeling.
And where were you when you were with me?
You were looking around, looking around, looking around
making sure everybody was looking.
So how is that little Rats nest of a heart?
I know shouldn't be calling cause it might start all over again.
I’m about as curious as a cat and if I were as smart as one I'd scat.
Silence is deadly; it feels like you have died.
You told me that you loved me,
surprise, surprise, surprise.
Baby, baby, baby was I not to awfully wise?
And did I have expectations?
Well I know all that twelve step jargon.
And all I hear from you is that you want to bargain.
This for that, tit for tat, the monkey runs around the mulberry bush.
I forgot, I forgot my part
I guess I don’t want to be in the play anymore!
This song is to say that I love you.
And I feel angry and I’m feeling sad.
This song is to say that I often think of you.
Honey I thought you were the best friend that I ever had.
Well do you think I might take my relationships too seriously?
My friends have always meant the world to me.
Was I blind, was I blind to what kind of friend you could be?
And kid I have
