This song was supposed to be simple and small, but it's actually overly complicated and long... huh. Most folks seem to think this is the best one, I tend to disagree. Palm muted guitar under a few layers of melody backed by pleasant drumline, simple... and small. (not on the ephemeral flutterby) "you and i love so much so we should love each other..." |
CD: I'll prolly put all these non-ephemeral flutterby tracks on a CD eventually
Label: the ether convent
Credits: sal for engineering and grant and ang for enjoying it first. |
Story Behind the Song
Sometimes people don't work out. Oh well, i guess... oh well.
Lyrics
I don't know how to be simple.
Don't know how to just love everyone.
I know silence is simple and music's as alive as anyone.
You sound interested.
You always sound interested on the phone.
When we meet there is nothing but silence and small talk, i don't know...
how to be simple.
how to just love everyone.
i know there's charm in the gravel.
i think there are secrets in the sun.
you said you'de like to watch the sunset.
well i'd like to see the sunset from your eyes.
Now there's blank stares and backdrops where poetry and song used to reside.
and you say, "i am your friend"
and i say, "i am your friend"
and we say, "i am your friend"
well my friend, this is the end. :)
and i said read me somthing.
somthing you wrote when you were young.
like a story or rambling.
somthing that attacked your spirit once.
and you asked me to play you a song, simple and small.
and i told you i'd write one if i ever found such a muse at all.
and i say, "you are my friend"
and you say, "you are my friend"
and we say, "you are my friend"
well my friend, this is the end.
you and i love so much so we should love each other.
oh no... (oh well
