    Story Behind the Song
"somewhere to fall" is a criticism of both Laissez-faire capitalism and it opposite socialism.
Socialism's view of state control over the production and
distribution of products equally amongst the population robs the
individual of autonomy making them a tool to serve the ends of others.
This means those who do little or nothing receive the same as those who work long and hard.
Though in a civilized society there should be a 'quality of life'
level that no one should be expected to live below
(a minimum being provision of what is needed to survive),
this safety net is good for both rich and poor alike.
Laissez-faire capitalism supporters would claim that kindness
from the rich as apposed to enforce altruism would deal with this problem,
but experience does not support this and I have yet to hear of any
business or even collection of businesses offer to take on the welfare requirements of any state.

    Lyrics
    Can't just exist for others
I have wants and my own things to do
You can take what you're given oh
Or you can earn what you want to
    It either guilt or pressure
They try to put you under
    or push you through
Feel free to choose for you
Feel free to choose do you?

I can't give it all up
I can't take to much oh
I need this space to sort my head out
I feel the bruise that makes it personal
I can't give it all up
I can't take to much oh
I need this space to sort my head out
I feel the bruise that makes it personal

Some want to keep all they make
Well they earnt it and nobody else did
And poverty's just something they use
to fill the gaps in the news until
    it happens to you
Some want to share it all
    What's yours is mine
    What's mine is yours
So easy when they've nothing to lose at all
    Or in the first place

I can't give it all up
I can't take to much oh
I need this space to sort my head out
I feel the bruise that makes it personal

    A new golden rule
    To suit this world
We could have it our own way
If it weren't for all the assholes

    Can't just exist for others
I have wants and my own things to do
You can take what you're given oh
Or you can earn what you want to
    It either guilt or pressure
They try to put you under
    or push you through
Feel free to choose for you
Feel free to choose do you?

I can't give it all up
I can't take to much oh
I need this space to sort my head out
I feel the bruise that makes it oh so personal
    personal
    personal
    I feel the bruise
