A weary traveling song, reminiscing of hometowns and friends of youth. Very strong and emotionally affecting.

    Story Behind the Song
I barely even remember writing this song sometimes it seems. I remember I woke up on a Sunday morning about 9:30, rolled out of bed, hit record and made some stuff up before I headed into the shower. When I came back I hit play and the bulk of this song was there, so I'm not sure I can take credit for it, it really just kind of came to me.

    Lyrics
    Somewhere On My Way

I remember when my niece was born
    I wonder how she's been
I hope that I can see her
    Before she reaches ten

    I once saw myself married
    When I turned twenty-five
Now I'm there and in six months
    I just hope I'm alive

I know the path is greener
On both sides of the fence
I've seen them both in sorrow
    And through rose colored lens

(BRIDGE)and Dad just hands the phone to Mom
and Mom says "how you been"
I wish that I could tell her
but I'd end up home again

Family, friends, memories, a quiet eastern town
Lying to the wayside on this path I travel down
I am looking forward to looking back one day
When all this pulling stops and I'm Somewhere On My Way

Does Joe still run that music store
His life was on those shelves
    Always giving half away
    He never wanted wealth

And Chris I tought guitar to
    He graduates this May
He'll probably join a rock band
Or jet like me one day

(BRIDGE)and Dad just hands the phone to Mom
and Mom says "how you been"
I wish that I could tell her
but I'd end up home again

Family, friends, memories, a quiet eastern town
Lying to the wayside on this path I travel down
I am looking forward to looking back one day
When all this pulling stops and I'm Somewhere On My Way

    Do they know I'm changing
    Do they know they're missed
    Do they understand why
    Or view as Judas' kiss

(BRIDGE)and Dad just hands the phone to Mom
and Mom says "how you been"
I wish that I could tell her
but I'd end up home again

Family, friends, memories, a quiet eastern town
Lying to the wayside on this path I travel down
I am looking forward to looking back one day
When all this pulling stops and I'm Somewhere On My Way
