Story Behind the Song
Ian: I wrote this one, and I am very proud of the chorus.
Jon: When Ian first played it to us, the chorus went 'Getting it on, Getting it on, We're getting it onnnnnnnn'. But we were going to be supporting Antiproduct the week later who have the song 'Hey, Let's Get It On' and also The Relatives who have a song called 'Gettin' it on', so we thought we should rethink the title.
Ian: The new title was thought up by Jon and myself on a trip back from abroad. I can't go it to too much detail, but there was somebody there who really got on our nerves. At the time we thought his name was Wayne.
Jon: He wore big brown cowboy boots. So I suggested calling it 'Burning Wayne' so we could have a pair of smouldering cowboy boots as the cover.
Ian: We since found out that it isn't actually his name.
Lyrics
Hold Out, Pass the Zinc,
It's so fustrating, we cannot be friends.
Don't shout, we've lost it, this time.
Tonight let's all strike a light.
He's in my way again.
We're Burning Wayne, Burning Wayne.
Lights out, suddenly it's jumping on you,
this cannot be fine.
Knocked down, Have I lost my mind?
