Story Behind the Song
"Plainfield" tune was composed by the American hymn composer in 1876. It is known as the melody for the hymn-text "Nothing But the Blood of Jesus." The accompaniment in this recording and arrangement is adapted from the aria "Quando corpus morietur" in the Stabat Mater of G.B. Pergolesi (Italy, 1736).
