An optimistic song about a couple's hopeful future. For acoustic guitar and voice, and perhaps somewhere in James Taylor's universe. A good song!
Credits: Lyrics by Mark Campbell, Music by Dan Sonenberg, Guitar and Voice by Dan Sonenberg

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written for Crossing Jamaica Avenue's production of the play Woman Killer, by Chiori Miyagawa. The play is the tale of a troubled young man who ultimately kills a family friend for money. This song opens the show, and is sung by Anne. She reflects upon her bright future, which alas, she ultimately won't have.

    Lyrics
When we're in our golden years
    Some years from now
Our lives will not be so complex
We can up and get away
Or stay in and read all day
    Maybe even rediscover sex

    Looking at our golden years
    Some years from now
The day to day will be a breeze
Though the children will be grown
They'll have children of their own
We can spoil as rotten as we please

    Until then
There are mouths to be fed
    And shoes to be tied
    And beds to be made
    Until then
There are skirts to be hemmed
    And tests to be passed
    And boys to fend off
    Until then
There are a million wrongs to make right
And a million kisses good night

It will be our golden years
    Some years from now
Although it's hard to say just when
    But imagine how sublime
When we look back it this time
    Some years from now
    And laugh at how
Serious we used to be back the
