	Story Behind the Song This song started from a simple riff my brother played me over the phone. I took that riff and wrote what became the chorus to Emptiness over it, and then constructed the verses around it. The song has had various incarnations over the years and this one is the closest to what I had originally envisioned. Lyrically it deals with desperation and the overwhelming desire to give up on everything. "I feel I've drifted so far that I'll never find my way back again...." Lyrics I feel the sun and all it's brightness As it shines beyond my door I feel the weight of indecision As questions drag me to the floor Sometimes I search for interaction And sometimes it finds me first Sometimes I hate my own reaction When concern transforms to hurt I feel I've drifted so far That I'll never find my way back again Emotions falling apart Too bizarre to fully comprehend And I can feel the waves of laughter But I'm not smiling anymore Darkness closing ever faster To bring the night forevermore I often gaze at my reflection And from the world I often hide A fortress built for the protection Of the empty soul inside Sometimes I wish I could allow myself To shed one tear of pain One desperate cry of loneliness One desperate cry of shame
