	Story Behind the Song When I was in engineering school I was puttering around at a buddy's apartment, a fellow we called "our Andy." I found a guitar nearby, and, as I was just learning some, I came up w/ this progression and our Andy thought it was great! So I put words to it and began to play it around as "My Lady of Strings." Well, I didn't care for those words much, so I changed them to their current form. Lyrics I wish I had a child to hold in my arms and rock for awhile But if I can't have a child I'll listen to the crickets singing in the nite Once I wrote a song about the reddened skies Now I wonder if I'll ever leave this place before I die and I wonder I would give my child a name of 12-string guitars and dancing sprites and bards And we'd travel in a van and see distant lands and view all the stars But if I can't have a child I'll be content w/ the nite I'll embrace and kiss her reddened neck oh so softly If I ever have a child to hold in my arms and rock for awhile I'll remember it's the nite that rocks me to sleep w/ cricket lullabies
