    Story Behind the Song
Steve wrote the music and lyrics for this song over twenty years ago. At the time, getting love right was not easy. It's still not easy! The song was written somewhere between Hermosa Beach, California and Ann Arbor Michigan during a time when Steve was college hopping. Steve's recollection is that this song kind of poured out in a couple of hours. It took about six hours to record the song over a course of about week. Dori's voice brings new life to this tune, one of the most requested in Steve's repertoire.

    Lyrics
Well I have these moments when I'm so lonely
I ain't got my baby but he's got my mind
So I drink Jack Daniels I hope not to wake up
But the very next morning I'm on the phone I'm singing

Honey don't leave me I promise I'll be good
I'll play my guitar just for you
But you begged me not to hurt you
So I begged you to be gone
But beggars can't be choosers so I move along
    And I move along

So I finish my whiskey and I call up a friend
Checking up on the magic I see its working again
Says he gets kind of itchy needs to run down south
Says he needs to find a place where he can spoon about
    He's singing

Honey don't leave me I promise I'll good
I'll play my guitar just for you
But you beg me not to hurt you
So I begged you to be gone
But beggars can't be choosers so I move along
    And I move along

    I don't need a lot of money I can''t use a lot of ground
But I just don't need myself being pushed around
Oh I need my baby and my peace of mind
I believe that would be all if you'd be so kind
    I'm saying

Honey don't leave me I promise to be good
I'll play my guitar just for you
But you beg me not to hurt you
So I begged you to be gone
But beggars can't be choosers so I move along
    And I move along
