Story Behind the Song
As the millenium rolled over, I looked back and realized that the world is actually a more screwed up place than we thought it was going to be a hundred years ago with all the advancements in technology, industry, and with all the things that were meant to make life simpler and the world a BETTER place.
We still have racism, war, violence, environmental destruction, and ignorance, and all the while the media growingly exploits people, nations, and circumstance to further deepen our disillusionment.
What happened to the lessons we learned in the 60's?
Lyrics
Turn It Around
I've been down for some time
Thinking I might find a brighter day,
And I've gone 'round oh so many times,
Thinking I might find a better way.
Well I'm not too sure that I like what I see,
And the future is full of such uncertainty,
Well I'm not too sure that I like what I see...
I'm gonna turn it around,
Change my life
Make it worthwhile,
Gonna put on a smile
And pretty soon you'll see
That I'm laughing at me
Instead of crying.
Well I've been drowned by people with narrow minds,
I was hoping soon that someday they might see.
Now, I look down on the 20th Century,
All that time and no one found the key.
Well I'm not too sure that I like what I see,
And the future is full of such uncertainty,
Well I'm not too sure that I like what's to be...
C'mon and turn it around,
Change your life
Make it worthwhile,
Won't ya put on a smile?
Pretty soon you'll see
That you're laughing with me
Instead of crying.
