Soft rocker about the long road to stardom. The star of this song is Dori's voice. She nails this tune.
CD: : "Don't Leave Home"   Label: : Independent. We are not signed to a label at this time
Credits: : Music and Lyrics written by Steven Rubin. Vocals by Dorian Hoffman.

    Story Behind the Song
Steve wrote the music and lyrics to this song over twenty years ago. The song tries to capture the feeling of being on that long hard road to stardom. Like many songs written by Steve during this period, the song was written somewhere between Hermosa Beach, California and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The song was recorded in about six hours over a period of roughly one week. Dori's voice was recorded on the first take. Dori's vocals are so incredible, the other Homebodies (that would be Steve and Charlie) did not know whether to laugh or cry, but we have been smiling ever since.

    Lyrics
I'm on the road to being a rock and rolling star
Everyone's gonna know my name cause I play a mean guitar
But just tonight I'm gonna sit here at this bar

And run through it all one more time
Time that I thought would be mine
But time is no longer around
And loneliness seems to be found

I'm on the road tonight gonna play a redneck bar
No ones gonna know my name cause no one really cares
Just one more night of playing to empty stares

But maybe who knows I'll just wait and see
Is there anyone out there interested in me
The truth is I'd settle for a clap or two
Tell me now is that asking too much from you

I'm on the road to being a rock and rolling star
Everyones gonna know my name cause I play a mean guitar
But just tonight I'm gonna sit here at this bar
