Imagine Johnny Cash, Robyn Hitchcock and Neil Finn all got together to write a song about Georgia OKeefe. You probably wouldnt get this song, but its a goodie anyway :) |

Story Behind the Song
Actually wrote the first couple of verses years ago and then forgot all about the song until last weekend when I stumbled across an acoustic version of it on an old minidisc. Once I'd worked out the chords again, I couldnt stop playing it and ended up writing everything from the first chorus on one night and recording it the next night.
Whats it about? Buggered if I know, but it kinda contrasts life/relationships with a desert...or something deep and meaningful like that.
Lyrics
Bone dry, wide blue sky
Blood red, barb wire dead
Dull grey, day all day
Silvery water, far away
The desert is calling,
Calling, but you just turn away
The desert is calling
But you just run to the arms of another love
I wondered around, a year or more
Then fell to the ground with your caterpillar spores
I wondered around, under a desert sun,
then fell to the ground drunk as Harry Dean Stanton
It aint black but it aint white,
Maybe someday, maybe tonight
Name me one thing that you dont fight
Show me something to make it alright
