Expertly sung and performed by Jeffrey Cuenco, this is (at this point) the song we've spent the longest amount of time on, to make it sound perfect. The story of a love that has it's ups and downs... |

Story Behind the Song
"Well, this one came out of the end of one of the best things that ever happened in my life... I was realizing that things were falling apart, most importantly my life, and it was a song I really needed to write. It was quite amazing, when it came time to write it, Jeff had a good idea of which way he wanted the song to go musically, so he was kinda babbling into the mic, when he said something about broken wings. It hit me like a hammer, the image of a man glued to wings that won't work, falling to his doom... a kind of Icarus idea. Applying this to my recent troubles, I sat down and belted out several versions of the lyrics... I've got almost another entire song worth of lyrics that weren't able to go into it, either because of their inability to fit in, or with the fact that they're just too scary... also, for reasons both emotional and physical, I was unable to duet with Jeff on the singing. There will always be other times."
-Ben Lawless
"Sometimes I forget that from start to finish the entire song project had only taken a little less than two months... day to day work on it and retakes on the instrumental parts as well as the vocals had been a rather tedious process and at various times during the project, I felt like I had been working on the song forever, but at the same time I enjoyed working on it, amid Ben's urging me to get it completed ASAP. Because Ben had to return to school up north at the completion of winter break, we were unable to complete the song in a collaborative fashion, and as a result I was left with the job of completing the song on my own. Being that this is the first time that I had actually created instrumental-wise a song of this magnitude, I was continually surprised and impressed at how it developed and grew on a day to day basis into the monstrosity it is now. And like Ben, the song reflects recent troubles/events in my life as well, except instrumentally."

Lyrics
falling since I saw
you falling from me
I'm stalling myself
above a wide-open sea
falling from the sky
on the wings of my dreams
cause I always thought
you'd be there for me
falling since the seeds of time
were lost in the breeze
falling since I flew for the first time away
happy ever after was always on my mind
stories of life-long love were two steps behind
our happy ever afters were always on my mind
but you can't keep wings that won't let you fly
falling since I saw
this love was not for me
the wind loud enough
I can barely hear me scream
falling from the sky
into a deep stormy sea
I've had enough of air
and I'm ready for the deep
falling since the seeds of time
were lost in the breeze
falling since I flew for the first time away
happy ever after was always on my mind
stories of life-long love were two steps behind
our happy ever afters were always on my mind
but you can't keep wings that won't let you fly
but what about the look I find in her eyes?
what about the way I feel as I drown inside?
what can the days after possibly find
other than me thinking of the life I left behind?
(you know you want what's best for me
I'm finding the falling between heartbeats
as we stand wrapped in silken sheets
I can still see your eyes a lifetime away)
falling since I saw
you falling for me
I'm separating myself
in a blue angry sea
and if my lungs were to break
in a dozen dreams of life
I know you'd still love me
falling since the seeds of time
were lost in the breeze
falling since I flew for the first time away
those were the times when the future seemed so clear
those were our precious moments we both held so dear
those were a thousand lifetimes I saw in her eyes
but it seems only with her wings I can fly
with her wings I can fly
I can fly
